Y&T Is Contemplating Recording Another Acoustic EP

Y&T singer/guitarist Dave Meniketti has told Tigman of the Z93 radio station that the band is contemplating recording the follow-up to last year's acoustic EP, "Acoustic Classix Vol. 1".

"We were just talking about it the other day," he said (hear audio below). "Yeah, I think that might be fun. We had a good time with 'Vol. 1'. It was just a trip sitting around and figuring out how to make something different out of some of our classic songs, and so we just thought, 'Yeah. Why not? Let's do it again. Why not? We had fun with it."

Asked if the "Acoustic Classix Vol. 2" EP will be the next release from Y&T, Dave said: "It might be. We still wanna write some new material — no question about it. We've just gotta get off the road long enough to give ourselves time to do that. We need a couple of months off so we can write, record — all that kind of stuff."

The band's latest studio album, "Facemelter", came out in May 2010 via Frontiers.

Meniketti is the only surviving member of the Y&T lineup — then known as YESTERDAY AND TODAY — that recorded the band's self-titled debut album.

Original Y&T rhythm guitarist Joey Alves died in March 2017 at the age of 63. Two founding Y&T musicians — drummer Leonard Haze, 61, and bassist Phil Kennemore, 57, who both had left the lineup — died from complications of lung cancer: Kennemore on January 7, 2011, and Haze on September 11, 2016.

Y&T's current lineup is rounded out by guitarist John Nymann, drummer Mike Vanderhule and bassist Aaron Leigh.
